Breeder Referrals

Looking to find the dog of your dreams but not sure how to go about finding a good breeder? We can help.

Rescue is a great, great source to get a wonderful dog from. But not everyone wants a rescue, and we respect that. While we'd hope that you'd at last consider rescue, we'd like to help you find a reputable breeder if you decide that you'd prefer a puppy. A reputable breeder is a person who breeds to improve and maintain their breed, not for the money, not to see 'the miracle of life' or any other frivolous reason. They health test their dogs, sell pet-quality dogs on spay/neuter contracts, and nearly always show their dogs in some venue, whether it's conformation, field trials, or working trials. Even if you just want a pet, the very best chance you have of getting a HEALTHY pet who truly resemebles the breed he is supposed to be, in temperament and looks, is to go to a reputable breeder.

Resources to get you started

Sometimes the hardest part of finding a dog is finding a reputable breeder. We do NOT sell dogs. We do not charge for this service. What we will do is the legwork- calling the local, regional, and national breed clubs, and getting you a list of breeders who meet their breed club's code of ethics. We can't promise that these people will have puppies available, that they will only cost a certain amount, or that they'll be willing to sell you one. We DO promise they'll give you the third degree, because reputable breeders want to know where their puppeis are going. But we'll help you get started.
